Job Shadows at Providence

At Providence, job shadowing provides an invaluable chance to explore the healthcare environment up close. Participants may follow healthcare professionals through their daily routines, gaining a deeper understanding of various medical roles and the compassionate care we deliver. Providence locations may offer unique job shadowing opportunities, from observing clinical procedures to experiencing administrative workflows.

The requirements and application processes for job shadowing can differ between Providence ministries and regions. To learn more about the job shadowing programs available at your local facility, click on the link below. If your local Providence site isn’t listed, reach out to the ministry directly.

Oregon:

Individuals interested in job shadowing in Oregon should reach out directly to the caregiver they’d like to work with. Approval is at the discretion of the caregiver, department, or manager. Those looking for a job shadow experience should attend a Career Highlight to gain hands-on experience exploring different health care careers with Providence caregivers. Oregon Providence ministries do not offer nursing job shadow experiences, as our resources are allocated to nursing students in affiliated schools. Job shadow participants must be 16 years or older and are limited to observation only, with no direct patient contact. Each job shadow must be under eight hours, occur within one day, and is limited to once per year per individual. Department managers or designees will define the scope, assign supervisors, and determine the duration and location of the experience.
